Bodrum has Received 5 Billion USD in Investments
Although pandemic lockdown has slowed down for companies to reach Turkey personally, they continue to support the local economy and infrastructure of Bodrum. The mayor of the city, Ahmet Aras, has recently given an interview to the news agencies. "The investments made to the district of Muğla, such as hotels, real estate, hospitals, health tourism, sports, and infrastructure, has reached 5 Billion USD."
The mayor also noted that a unique restaurant company with only 5 destinations around the globe, as well as a USA-only hotel business has chosen Bodrum as their sole investment option in Turkey. "While famous hotels such as Susana, LXR, Ritz Carlton, The Edition, Mandarin Oriental, Kempinski, Wyndham, Rixos, Titanic, Radisson Blu are already serving people in Bodrum, other famous brands are waiting to set up their businesses."
In the same meeting with economy focused newspaper agencies, Aras has evaluated the investors' interest as well as the possible revival of tourism in the region. Just as the lockdowns have depleted global tourism, Bodrum has seen %90 losses in foreign tourists during the lockdowns. "Yet, the district has welcomed 100 thousand foreign nationals between January-August. The Turkish tourists have flown to the district during the pandemic. The people who owned vacation homes in the district have revived the local economy, and helped us save some of our losses."
The district expects 1 Billion USD investment in its infrastructure in the next five years. Aras has announced that medicinal agriculture is expected to grow in Bodrum, as a side-industry of tourism.
